Lawn Maintenance

• Turf Mowing:
  All turf areas will be mowed on an average of every seven (7) days during the season from April 1 through November 31 (26 mowing). Height of turf is to be determined by species and local conditions during the growing season. Mowing height may be adjusted upon request. (Will be pro-rated upon your actual start date of service.)
  During rainy or extended dry periods, the frequency may change. In conjunction with each mowing, trimming shall be performed around all buildings, structures, and other obstacles within the turf area. Removal of grass clippings provided at an additional cost.

Fertilization & Weed Control

• Early Spring:
  Application of pre-emergent for control of grassy weeds.
• Early Summer:
  Application of a granular fertilizer to promote summer turf hardiness and broadleaf herbicide spot treatment as needed.
• Early Fall:
  Application of a time released balanced fertilizer and a broadleaf herbicide blanket spray.
• Late Fall:
  Application of a quick release nitrogen fertilizer to promote a strong root system throughout the winter and ensure early spring green up.

*All seams and cracks in sidewalks and curbs will be managed for weeds through chemical or manual control as needed throughout the season.

Aeration

All accessible lawn areas shall be thoroughly core-aerated, this allows for proper oxygen and nutrient delivery to the roots of your turf. This also allows areas of compacted soil to loosen and allow healthy root growth to ensure a thick and lush lawn. Request a bid.

Over-seeding

Over-seeding of thin and bare areas shall be completed in early spring or during the month or September or October with an improved turf variety. Request a bid.

Mulching

• Initial Mulch:
  All previously mulched tree rings and shrubbery beds shall be mulched using premium quality double shredded hardwood mulch. (Mulching is bid separately on a per yard basis.) A well-defined edging of all beds and tree rings, and complete weed removal from all beds shall take place prior to installation of the mulch. Mulch layer shall not exceed three (3) inches in depth.
• Top Dress Mulch:
  All areas that were previously mulched will receive a fresh layer of mulch. Total depth of top dress mulch shall not exceed two (2) inches.
• Ornamental Mulch Bed Edging:
  All mulch beds, shrub beds, flower beds, and tree rings shall have a sharp, well-defined edge of at least three (3) inches in depth. Spoil from the edge definition will not be left in the bed areas. Bed edges shall be true to their form in that they are straight or curved without jagged edges. This will be performed three (3) times per season.

Gardening

Weed Control:
Weed control shall be maintained in all flowerbeds, ornamental mulch beds and tree rings on a Bi-weekly basis. This may be done either manually or through the use of herbicides, which are not harmful to the plant materials located in the shrub or mulch beds. This can be done in conjunction with the mowing (14) times per season, or offered as a separate service.

Small Tree and Shrub Program

Keep your trees and shrubs healthy and looking great!

• Pruning:
  All ornamental shrubs, bushes, and evergreens will be pruned or sheared two (2) times during the contract period, unless otherwise agreed upon, to ensure a professionally maintained appearance. Tree suckers, shoot growth, and tree limbs impeding walkways and parking areas will be pruned as needed.
• Late Winter / Early Spring:
  Fertilization of all ornamental shrubs with a slow release organic fertilizer performed in conjunction with the mulching.
• Late Spring through Early Fall:
  Regular inspections of ornamental trees and shrubs for evidence of insect infestation will occur throughout the season and treated as needed.

Spring & Fall Clean–up

• Spring Clean-Up:
  All leaves and miscellaneous debris will be collected and removed from the entire property as part of the spring clean-up.
• Removal:
  All leaves will be removed from the turf areas twice (2) per contract period and once (1) from all ornamental and mulch bed areas.

Irrigation Services

• Start-up:
  Irrigation system will be started up and gone through to check head direction for proper turf and bed coverage.
  *Any parts and labor to fix system is an additional cost.
• Mid Season Check-ups (2):
  The system and controller will be run through a complete checklist and readjusted if needed.
• System Winterization (blow-out):
  System will be winterized to prevent any damage due to cold weather and frost. Any breaks in the system will be noted and fixed in the spring during start-up unless break prohibits proper winterization.
• Parts and Labor Charges:
  Signed approval is required by property owner for these charges.

  Walkways, city walks, fire exits decks or patios.

Why the name “Dirt–E-Girl”?

Why not? I am a female who loves to work with dirt! I add
feminine insight to the nurturing of your property, resulting
in an aesthetically pleasing end product!

I have been in the "Green Industry" since 1996. My "hands on" experience comes from running varied aspects of Lawn and Property Maintenance, Landscape and Irrigation companies. The most important aspect I have learned about business is "customer care". And that is where I begin with each and every client.

At the University of Minnesota I received a Turf Grass Management Certificate. I participate in numerous continued education classes through the U of M extension; turf grass recognition, disease identification and pest management. I have carried my commercial applicators license since 1998. I am active in my community, and have received certificates from such organizations as “Women in the Outdoors” for teaching safe outdoor equipment use. I am a partner of Only 1 You Expo " a community of women-focused and family-friendly entrepreneurs".

Starting a business during the recession has not been an easy task, but then again, my life has been about challenge, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity!
